The task of mixing materials in a bucket has been an unsafe practice on the construction sites for many years.

Lidie Specialty Tools is certified by the Small Business Association for the State of California and was created on 1 Jan 2007 to manufacture and sell a securing device specifically used for mixing mortar, thin set, and other adhesive construction materials normally mixed in a five gallon bucket using an electric drill and paddle type bit. The five gallon bucket is normally secured by a person using the interior of their knees while using the drill and paddle to mix the adhesive. The torque of the electric drill can be powerful enough to “spin” the bucket around or commonly, the drill can become caught in the mix and it too can “spin” causing torque to be transferred to the spine. This process places incredible force on the entire body. The Spin Resistant Bucket Clamp (SRBC) was designed to minimize the risk of injury to personnel, therefore lowering costs and lost days on the construction site. The number of hospital outpatient department visits with Worker’s Compensation as the expected source of payment in 2002 in the state of California alone was 870,000.  Construction injuries are a sizeable portion of this expense.  The SRBC will lower these expenses and impact the industry markedly.
